Sion is a town located in the south-west of the Swiss canton of Valais. It is famous for its fortifications which reach up to the summits of 2 hills: the ruins of the Tourbillon château, dating from the thirteenth century, and the complex of the Valère château, the basilica of which contains an organ that is more than 500 years old. The Cathedral of Our Lady of Sion, built in the fifteenth century and the conical “Tours des Sociers” are both in the old town. The Majorie and Vidomnat towers house the Valais Art Museum and its regional art collection.
