Montreux is a traditional resort located on the banks of Lake Geneva. Nestled between steep hills, it is renowned for its mild micro-climate and its jazz festival which takes place in July. The town’s promenade is flanked by flowers, sculptures, Mediterranean trees and buildings in the “Belle Époque” style. A medieval château, the château de Chillon, is found on the shore of the lake, comprised of ramparts, majestic halls and a chapel with painted murals dating from the fourteenth century.
